About

Through diet and exercise alone, many see satisfactory results in muscle development, definition, and overall weight loss. But there are some places around the body that are harder to target than others. Especially as you get older, it can be more difficult to lose unwanted fat with a healthy and active lifestyle. Our bodies just don’t bounce back like they used to. One of those areas is the back of the arms. This area is home to the triceps brachii and can be very difficult to target through weight training and cardiovascular exercises. When the skin in this area is stretched, it is very hard for it to return to its normal elasticity. In the past, usual procedures to correct this have been fairly extensive and invasive operations that leave scars from the elbow to the armpit. With QuantumArms, Dr. Baker has created a way to give you firm, contoured arms void of scars and significant downtimes.

Dr. Baker’s QuantumArms treatment works to break new ground in body contouring procedures. In the past, surgeries like liposuction have been sufficient at extracting fatty tissue from various areas around the body, however, liposuction can’t tighten the skin in the process. Liposuction may be the perfect solution for some who just need their fatty tissue addressed. But what about the people who wish for fat loss and skin tightening? The answer: Dr. Baker’s QuantumArms approach, the 2-in-1 solution.

Fat Loss

Using a radio-frequency assisted device, the QuantumArms procedure works to extract fat cells around the upper arm just above the elbow. The radio waves use thermal energy to exclusively liquefy fat cells while Dr. Baker utilizes a robotically-controlled cannula to gently sculpt away your troublesome, fatty tissue. In a study where 97 people underwent a radio-frequency assisted liposuction, 85% of them walked away satisfied with their body contouring results.[2]

Skin Tightening

As we age, our bodies’ skin becomes more lax and loose; the culprit for this is the decreasing amounts of readily produced collagen in our dermis. When we’re young, our skin is ripe with collagen to smooth out wrinkles, keep our skin tight and moisturized. This collagen production peaks around our mid to late 20s and begins its descent thereafter. According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, women lose 30% of their collagen production in the first five years of menopause and 2% every year after. With depleted collagen levels, our skin has an increasingly more difficult time tightening itself after losing weight or having kids. But with Dr. Baker’s QuantumArms approach, radio waves hold the key to regaining that youthful perkiness to the skin in your arms.

The thermal energy generated by radio waves penetrates the deep dermal layers of the skin to activate the semi-dormant collagen receptors. This thermal energy heats the receptors and triggers them to increase production. With heightened levels of naturally generated collagen, the skin’s laxity subsides, resulting in tighter, firmer skin.

Less Downtime

We understand that some patients can be hesitant when familiar with the downtime associated with traditional methods of fat removal. With QuantumArms, you don’t have to worry about any extensive recovery times or uncomfortable night stays in a hospital. This outpatient procedure is done under IV sedation and is minimally invasive, so you are free to return to your daily activities 24 hours after your procedure![3]

Candidates

To qualify for it has been proven that it’s best if you:

  • Are physically active but struggle to lose fat in your arms
  • Are in good health and close to your ideal weight
  • Have mild to moderately loose or sagging skin around your arms
  • Don’t have time for lengthy recovery times

If you are still unsure if you qualify, feel free to read Dr. Baker’s blog post where he breaks down the requirements for patients interested in this procedure. While most of our patients who come to us qualify for the QuantumArms treatment, if you are wondering if you qualify for this modern rendition of body contouring please feel free to schedule your personal, private consultation to meet with Dr. Baker and discuss how our services can change your life!

Personal Consultation

After scheduling your personal consultation at our beautiful Rockwall office, you will be able to meet with Dr. Baker one-on-one to discuss your desired aesthetic goals. He will examine your arms, noting the laxity and density of fatty tissue in both arms. If QuantumArms is elected as the best approach to giving you your desired goals, we can discuss all further details the same day to get you on the upcoming schedule!

Preparation

Before your QuantumArms procedure, it is important to:

  • Avoid smoking for the two weeks before your procedure as this will ensure proper healing takes place in the body.
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications such as ibuprofen, NSAIDs, and aspirin as these can cause excessive bleeding during your procedure.

Procedure

On the day of your QuantumArms procedure, local anesthesia will be administered, and a small incision will be made in the back of your arms. The robotically controlled cannula will then use radio waves to heat up the surrounding fat cells, liquefying them. Once liquified, the cannula will gently remove the fatty tissue. Since the cells aren’t in their solid-state, more fat cells are able to be extracted than in traditional liposuction. Radiofrequency energy also works to heat up the deep dermal layers responsible for collagen production. This causes the skin to retract pulling it closer to the limb. Once completed, a small suture will be applied to the tiny incision and you will be off on your way!

Recovery

Since only local anesthesia was used and only minimal incisions were made, the recovery time is less than liposuction. After the procedure, you can expect some slight bruising and swelling in the targeted areas. The arms may feel a little tender and sore; this is completely normal. During this time it is important to:

  • Avoid any high-impact activities for the first two weeks
  • Gently massage the areas to promote healing and alleviate bruising
  • Compression garment will need to be worn for ~4 weeks following your procedure
  • Contact us if you notice any abnormal side effects
